Auto-undoing layer selection
I simply don’t understand why this one hasn’t been fixed:
I have a document open with two layers:
Background and Color.
Background is the layer I just finished working on.
I select the Color layer and start drawing…
Oh, the color is all wrong, but no problem, I’ll just use the magic of Undo. (It’s so built-in now that I just do it on autopilot, I don’t really think about it.)
I change the color to the correct one and continue drawing.
After a few seconds, minutes or hours I discover that all the things I wanted to draw on the Color-layer I’ve been drawing on the Background-layer!
This is because for some reason photoshop decides to go two steps back when I press undo when I’ve just selected a layer… not only does it undo my brush-stroke, but also my layer selection.
So to avoid this problem, I have to FIRST select the layer, THEN make a marquee selection, THEN deselect my selection and THEN start drawing. This way, when I press undo I’m sure it doesn’t switch back to the previous layer.
